Stuart I. Meyers
Co-Chairman & Co-CEO
With a distinguished career spanning more than 50 years, Stuart Meyers has created a legacy of excellence. He has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s most influential real estate developers having had a very broad and material impact on both the Florida and West Texas real estate markets. Among his many honors, in 2003 the National Association of Homebuilders and Multifamily Executive Magazine both named him Builder of the Year. He was recently nominated for “EL Pasoan of the Year 2016” by the El Paso Inc. weekly business news publication.
Mr. Meyers has founded three separate real estate businesses during his long career including The Related Companies Florida Low Income Tax Credit Housing Development Group in the 1980’s, The Cornerstone Group in the 1990’s, and The Meyers Group in 2015. His real estate experience includes developing or renovating hi-rise condominiums, townhomes, market rate and affordable rental apartments, commercial applications and hotels. He has planned, directed, and implemented the successful combination of Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits and the Florida State Apartment Incentive Loan program. Together these two programs have been jointly used to finance and complete Mr. Meyers’ development at both Related and Cornerstone of over 20,000 rental units in 70 different communities. As a result, he has been responsible for securing more than $1 Billion in debt and equity financing to support those projects.
Cornerstone Group is one of the nation’s largest fully integrated residential real estate firms providing development, construction and property management services for condominiums and both market rate and affordable rental housing communities throughout the State of Florida. In 2004 Cornerstone was recognized as the eighth largest multi-family developer in the United States. In its short existence since 2015 Meyers Group has already grown to become a leader in historic hotel renovations, condominium developments, market rate luxury rental properties and mixed use projects. It currently has eight ground-up developments or redevelopments underway on both coasts of Florida and in El Paso, Texas.
Mr. Meyers is a native of Port Chester, New York and currently resides in Golden Beach, Florida. He holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and CPA Certification from New York State. He has two children and five grandchildren. His many philanthropic and community interests are carried out by The Stuart I Meyers Family Foundation.
Co-Chairman & Co-CEO
As Meyers Accesso’s Founding & Managing Partner of Investments, Ariel Bentata directs the company’s investments, asset management and corporate development. Prior to establishing Meyers Accesso and his ongoing work with Accesso Partners, Mr. Bentata worked as a legal and business affairs counsel for MTV Networks Latin America and as a counsel to a Florida law firm. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad Católica in Caracas, Venezuela and his Master’s degree from New York University. Additionally, Mr. Bentata is the Campaign Chair of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and the MAR JCC.
Robert L. Shapiro
Principal & Vice Chairman
Robert L. Shapiro (“Bob”) serves as Vice Chairman of Meyers Group. Prior to partnering up with Meyers Group, Bob had over 35 years of experience in the creation of more than thirty retail developments and redevelopments with over 7 million square feet of retail space in shopping centers across Florida. Bob became part of the management team at Meyers Group in 2021, and together with Stuart Meyers, organized Meyers Master Development, LLC., as an integrated CRE development company, to develop and build best-in-class multi-use projects. This partnership has positioned the company to be one of the few in Florida capable of delivering combined ground-up developments with residential, retail, hospitality and/or office components.
In early 2014, Bob was one of the original founding partners of Dania Pointe, which is a 102-acre mixed-use development in Dania Beach, FL. Dania Pointe comprises 2.5 million square feet of shopping, residential, office, hotel, restaurant, and entertainment components and is one of the largest multi-use destinations in South Florida. Kimco Realty, Inc, a New York Stock Exchange real estate investment trust (“Kimco”) was the managing partner of Dania Pointe. He sold his partnership interest in Dania Pointe to Kimco in January 2020, when the first phase of the property was completed.
In both 2015 and 2016, the South Florida Business Journal recognized Bob as one of the “Top 100 Power Leaders in Real Estate” in South Florida. Bob has been a panelist regarding commercial and mixed-use developments at seminars hosted by the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Florida Redevelopment Association, and the Florida Board of Realtors. Bob also founded his own company, Master Development, Inc. in 2001, which specializes in retail development.
Bob is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds a JD law degree from the University of Connecticut Law School, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University. A resident of Miami since 1971, he practiced law at large Miami law firms. He is married to Janet Shapiro and has three children and five grandchildren.
Principal & President
A real estate professional with more than 25 years of comprehensive real estate experience, Alan Losada is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Meyers Group.
Mr. Losada’s extensive experience in the areas of multi-family rental, hotel and condominium development, land acquisition, project financing, sales, construction and assets disposition has propelled him into one of the leading names in the industry. Prior to joining the Meyers Group, Mr. Losada served as Vice President of Operations at The Related Group. During his tenure with Related, he secured over $4.3 billion in financing for development loans and more than $200 million in acquisition loans. Mr. Losada oversaw the development of the complex real estate brokerage partnerships and hotel management ventures. Mr. Losada spent 13 years with Pacific International Equities managing the development and operations of the firm’s commercial, residential, warehouse and condominium properties.
Mr. Losada graduated from Florida International University and has resided with his family in Miami for over 30 years. His community involvement includes supporting organizations such as Voice for Children, Feeding South Florida and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Principal & CIO
John Rivard spearheads the firm’s investment process by sourcing new opportunities and overseeing the underwriting, negotiation, and closing of transactions. Prior to his position as the Meyers Accesso Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Rivard held various senior level positions in real estate investment management, investing in all major property types, ownership structures and markets throughout North America. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Southern California, his Master’s degree in Business from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. His professional affiliations include the California Bar (inactive) and the Urban Land Institute.
In his position as the Director of Investor Relations & Multifamily, Alan Garzon supports fundraising efforts and client relations for institutional and high net worth investors, as well as lead’s Accesso Partners and Meyers Accesso multifamily efforts. Prior to joining the Accesso team, Mr. Garzon was the Director of Operations and Finance of an internet start-up, while co-managing the company alongside its CEO. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela.
Walter (Pete) Phillips
SVP of Development
Walter C. Phillips III has wide ranging expertise in new construction and redevelopment of existing real estate with over 35 years of experience in the industry and development of nearly 2.6 million square feet of office, retail and senior living experience.
Mr. Phillips was the President of Phillips Development Companies, Inc. and as the firm’s founder, was responsible for overall management. Prior to forming this company, he was the Vice President and Director of Development for Crocker Partners, Boca Raton, Florida, where he developed the City Place Office Tower in West Palm Beach.
Mr. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland and is accredited as a LEED®AP with the USGBC.
William (Bill) Shewalter
EVP of Development
William Shewalter has over 30 years of development, construction, commercial leasing, management and financial experience in commercial real estate including multi-family residential, major shopping centers, regional malls and office buildings throughout the US.
Throughout his career, he has served in roles as President, Chief Operating Officer or Senior Vice President of Development. Mr. Shewalter developed and leased City Place Doral, an award-wining mixed-use development consisting of 300 multi-family luxury apartments and 250,000 square feet of entertainment-based retail; developed 20 major shopping centers; and as president of a major company, owned and operated 14,000 apartments.
Mr. Shewalter earned his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
SVP – Construction
An accomplished senior executive with more than 30 years of success leading different design teams and contractors through the preconstruction, construction, and closeout phases for multiple multimillion dollar projects concurrently on time, and budget. He has made a substantial contribution to develop building sustainability, new technologies and value engineering for prestigious organizations and very prominent projects in the South Florida Area, Texas and the Caribbean.
Mr. Hernandez’s primary responsibility is to ensure the overall success of each project by leading different design teams and contractors through the preconstruction, construction and closeout phases for multiple multimillion dollar projects – concurrently on time and budget. He has over two decades of experience in multiple sectors of the industry and has made a substantial contribution to develop building sustainability, new technology and value engineering for prestigious organizations and very prominent projects in the South Florida area and the Caribbean. Notable projects include: 1000 Museum by Zaha Hadid, Paraiso Complex, Biscayne Beach Residences, Paraiso Complex, Mariners Village, Santa Barbara Estates, Santa Monica,Santa Catalina, Montecarlo, Riverside, CC Las Trinitarias, CC, La Granja and several Ferreterias EPA.
When he was 14 years old, Mr. Hernandez began working in construction at the family business during school vacations, which gave him a healthy respect for hard work. Over the span of his career, he has served as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, Director of Construction, Senior Project Manager and Vice President of Construction for a number of projects throughout the region. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Hernandez has established valuable relationships within the South Florida real estate development, governmental agencies and contractor communities. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering along with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in the prestigious Universidad de Carabobo, Venezuela and is an active member in several engineering and construction associations in the South Florida Area and throughout the United States.
His primary mission statement is “Make a positive impact on many people, have meaningful relationships and live with passion, intensity, drive and energy that inspires others to do the same.”
A seasoned expert in the real estate industry, Cito Beguiristain brings over two decades of management and development to the Meyers Group.
In his role as Senior Vice President of Planning and Development, Mr. Beguiristain is responsible for identifying and analyzing potential acquisitions for the firm. He is also responsible for securing project financing, and oversees all government affairs pertaining to permits, entitlements, zoning and approvals.
Mr Beguiristain earned his Bachelor of Science and completed all coursework towards a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He has served as board president for the CJ Foundation for Children in Need in Palm Beach County. He lives in Miami Lakes with his two children.
In his role as the Director of Investments, Alex Romero covers office and multifamily acquisitions, dispositions, and development. Additionally, he oversees source investment and development opportunities by maintaining relationships with the brokerage community, investors, and lenders. Mr. Romero is focused on opportunities across the Sunbelt and the Midwest. He is highly experienced in all aspects of the financial analysis, due diligence, contract negotiation, and closing process related to investment activities for the company. Mr. Romero received his Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Finance from the University of Connecticut and his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Veronica Vainrub is an award-winning bilingual with experience in branding, advertising in market research. She spearheads all corporate marketing and communication efforts, including corporate and on-site property branding, advertising, public relations, events, email marketing, and social media efforts for the Meyers Accesso brand. In her role as Marketing Director, Ms. Vainrub specializes in strategic planning, client services, market research, and brand identity. She attended Northwestern University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications, and earned her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Florida International University.
Logan Crabb is an Associate Developer of the Meyers Group and its affiliated partnerships. She works with the executive team for all residential and mixed-use developments in Florida and El Paso, Texas. Her responsibilities include financial analysis for equity and debt financing, market research, retail leasing management, and art & design consultation. She also serves the team in obtaining approvals and entitlements for Meyers Group developments, as well as associated local community outreach.
Ms. Crabb gained professional experience in the real estate industry over the past several years having interned in commercial real estate lending at Iberiabank, and multi-family brokerage at Newmark. After graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a BA in Anthropology she moved to South Florida and graduated from the University of Miami Herbert Business School with an MBA in Business Management and Real Estate Development.
SVP – General Counsel
As General Counsel, Ezra Rubin oversees and guides legal and corporate matters for the Meyers Group, including acquisitions, finance, and corporate compliance. Mr. Rubin is a graduate of Vermont Law School and is licensed to practice law in Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Jason Walker has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting. As Corporate Controller, Mr. Walker oversees the accounting, budget and audit areas, and creates financial reports, investment strategies and long-term financial goals for the Meyers Group. He supports the executive team to evaluate, plan and forecast financial decisions for future growth. Mr. Walker earned his Bachelor of Accounting and Executive Master of Science in Taxation from Florida International University.
